Volumetric Strain

It is defined as the ratio between change in volume to the original volume of the body and is denoted as

εV = Change in volume / Original Volume = δV /V

 

The ratio of normal stress (on each face of the solid cube) to volumetric strain is called bulk or volume modulus of rigidity (K).
